About

MAKARA MORRIS DANCERS.
We are an English/Welsh Border Style morris dancing side based in the North East of England. We have members from Bridlington, Driffield, Hornsea, Hull, Hunmanby, Flamborough and some local villages around and in between. We practice September till June in Wansford village hall Monday evenings 7 30 pm till 9 30 pm. In the summer months we dance out on most Monday evenings in and around the places we all live. From January onwards we receive invitations to local events which we love to support if we can, plus further away festivals along with other Morris sides.

We do all our own dances, trying to introduce and learn new ones each practice season, as well as keeping up with established ones. We are a fairly small side of dancers and musicians and have a social part to our membership as well as the business side of things. We love to introduce new members to the side to join in the fun and laughter which is big part of who we are.

When dressed up and dancing out in our green tatter jackets we have been known to be called “dancing trees”! We love this, as our name, face paint, outfits and spirit represent the “Green Man/Lady” of our Woodlands! We enjoy upholding the Morris Dancing tradition and sharing this as we dance our way through the year. Why not book us for your event! Why not come and join us! Either way we would be very pleased to see you.
